Hello Grade 4 students and families!

This blog post is all about how you can prepare for your first Science quiz. Depending on the type of learner you are, there are study skills that can be more effective for you. In class today, we talked about learning styles and we went over what the quiz would look like. In the homework pack, students do NOT need to complete everything, they need to choose a review task that works for them. Over the course of the year, students should try different ways to review for quizzes so they can find what works best!

The focus of our quiz is Light. The layout of the quiz will be a match up task looking at keywords and then some questions which can be answered using words and images.  There will also be additional bonus questions which students can show what extra knowledge they have.

The Quiz date is Thursday, October 27th. Here are some resources in addition the homework set to help out:

• Interactive image flash cards – if you are visual (drawing pictures and using images) learner this is a great tool!
• Catchy song – If you are an aural (music and songs) learner this is great for you!
• Light website – If you are verbal (using words) learner, this is a great tool for you!
• If you are a physical learner (you like making things!) maybe you could complete a re-do of our experiments?

Dear Parents,
This year, on their birthday students are being asked to create a presentation on bristol board on themselves. Students will present their project to their classmates. To do this, we need a variety of photos of the Student and his family on trips, eating their favourite food etc. Next to each picture they should write why they chose this picture (in Hebrew).
For example: a picture with pizza – “I chose the picture because I like to eat pizza” בחרתי את התמונה הזו כי אני אוהב לאכול פיצה””.
A picture of New York – “I chose the picture because I want to go to New York in my bar mitzvah”- “ בחרתי תמונה של ניו יורק כי אני רוצה לנסוע לניו יורק בבר מצווה שלי etc.
The students will have time in school to do this project and they are encouraged to work on it at home. There is an example showing how it could look.
